AFCO Systems Receives General Services Administration IT Schedule 70 Award

Enables AFCO to Efficiently and Effectively Deliver Green Datacenter Enclosures to Federal Government Agencies

Farmingdale, NY – March 31, 2009AFCO Systems (www.afcosystems.com) today announced it has received a General Services Administration (GSA) IT Schedule 70 Award granted by the procurement agency for the United States federal government. The Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 enables federal government agencies to procure the IT products, services, and solutions necessary to meet their agency IT missions more conveniently and efficiently at pre-negotiated rates. Federal government agencies will now be able to obtain datacenter solutions from AFCO that can help reduce their power consumption and cooling requirements using AFCO’s patented KOOL-IT™ airflow management technology. This technology enables cooling of higher heat loads at the rack level without adding additional cooling resources. AFCO’s standard GSA product offerings include a wide range of enclosure configurations in many sizes that can accommodate larger, more sophisticated blade servers and network switches. Government agencies can find more information at http://www.afcosystems.com/.

“With the award of our GSA IT Schedule 70 contract, AFCO can more efficiently meet the needs of government agencies by providing a wide range of green datacenter enclosures and power solutions,” said John Consoli, AFCO Systems Chief Technology Officer. “We look forward to helping federal agency datacenter managers bring more control to the datacenters they operate.”

AFCO Systems CTO John Consoli Discusses Datacenter Standardization

A variety of factors are now driving the task of data center development and construction toward standardization. Standardization may just save you a bundle on your next data center project… But, just because a method or approach is labeled a “best practice” doesn’t necessarily make it so. John Consoli, CTO at AFCO Systems (www.afcosystems.com), says “the interesting thing about ‘best practices’ is that once they become widely adopted, they quickly become the de facto ‘minimally acceptable standards’ for our industry.” Rarely, if ever, are these practices that have become standards questioned or re-evaluated, he adds.
